The Office S04E11
“Night Out”

On behalf of men everywhere, Mindy Kaling, we’re sorry. Clearly some of us have done you wrong, and we would like to apologize for it. It’s not you it’s us, we’re sorry that we did that to you but you don’t need to hold a grudge like this. For those who missed it, there was quite a bit of man-hating going on in The Office last night.

Lost S04E09
“The Shape of Things to Come”

Thank God. That’s all I was thinking as the latest episode of Lost ended. Imagine having to wait months upon moths for this episode. It nearly happened, if the writer’s strike had dragged on longer we wouldn’t have gotten any new Lost until next year. Now we know what we would’ve been missing.

30 Rock S02E13
“Succession”

Everyone was looking to move on up tonight. Jack was finally told that he was going to get the GE chairmanship, Liz was going to be named his successor, and Tracy was going to secure his legacy by creating a porn-video game hybrid.

I am in a good mood today, the weather in DC is amazing and, more importantly, the Mets won last night. The latest episode of South Park is up and tonight is going to be a busy night for new television.

South Park S12E07
“Super Fun Time”

So we are now left for months without any more South Park. I didn’t realize that this was the mid-season finale until I went to the South Park website to watch the latest episode. Though, I must say that watching this episode certainly is going to make the absence more bearable. It was a middling episode, which managed to avoid many of the valleys of this season, while also dodging the greatness that was present in the previous two seasons.

As the television season begins to wind down, I think it’s appropriate to look forward to what is going to come next, after the current crop of shows hibernate for the summer.

Coming tomorrow, will be a breakdown of tonight’s episode of South Park. This is mainly because I don’t have cable and the show isn’t put online until the morning. Another not insignificant reason is that I wouldn’t be around to watch it tonight, even if I did have cable. I am going to see my New York Mets play the Washington Nationals in the brand new stadium (this is probably the only time the picture above will ever have any thematic resonance), down here in DC. Before leaving for that, and possibly when I get back tonight, I will try to update with any pertinent television news.

Over at the The AV Club, Noel Murray has an interview with the duo behind Lost, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. While there are no obvious spoilers, I’m sure that there are people who are going to be able to ferret out some answers from the intentionally vague answers given by Cuse and Lindelof. It provides a nice tease for the show, which returns on Thursday at 10 PM (no longer 9 PM, thanks to the return of Grey’s Anatomy).

30 Rock, arguably the strongest comedy on TV right now, is being moved from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Thursday nights, according to Variety. It will be taking the place of Scrubs for the rest of the strike-shortened season. This is a huge vote of confidence for the sophomore comedy, having The Office as a lead-in will no doubt help the ratings, which have yet to match the critical acclaim that the show has received. The move is also an attempt to weaken Scrubs, which will be moving to ABC next year for its final season.

I understand that this is a little bit late, the magazine came out a couple days ago, but apparently Gossip Girl is the “BEST. SHOW. EVER.” Not like that’s setting high expectations for a show that airs on The CW. I have to say, while I don’t agree with New York Magazine, at least not yet, the article is certainly worth reading.
